Let me explain to you why this guitar means so much to me- at Elsewhere
In Let me explain to you why this guitar means so much to me, I construct a book made of a destroyed cardboard replica of my guitar from home. I made this piece at Elsewhere Artist collaborative in Greensburo, NC and couldnt bring my guitar with me on the plane. In the book I write about my experiences at Elsewhere and why I destroy the object that represents what I miss.
This piece explores persona and fiction through the telling and explaining of truth. Even though my writing represents genuine emotions and actual events, the language used is confusing and inconsistent. The destructive act of dismantling the guitar can seem one of anger, love, sadness or mania simultaneously while reading the book. I explore the role of the storyteller of fiction by assuming different persona throughout my writing.
